Hi,
Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I had an urge to bake bread. I was given a wonderful book, Beard on Bread and spent several years working my way through the recipes. Then for various reasons I stopped. Recently, I've been doing a lot of cooking, especially Italin. A few months ago, I came across Carol Field's The Italian Baker and got the urge again. Doing some Googling, I came across this wonderful site, and so, here I am!

Welcome, Ross
With all the excitement in this forum, you'll never want to stop baking bread again.

Rosalie, It's not so much
Rosalie,
It's not so much that I wanted to stop as much as that other things got in the way. I feel good baking again.

Beard on Bread was the book
Beard on Bread was the book that made me a baker. The breads are interesting, the recipes work, and James treats his novice readers very kindly indeed.
Welcome to the site.
Hi Ross. I haven't read
Hi Ross. I haven't read Beard on Bread, but one of his general cookbooks was my "gourmet" cookbook when I was a teen. A great book for its time.
