Newbie from Montreal!

Heeeeey Fresh Loafers!

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've been wanting to get started with baking bread and learning all of this wonderful stuff for a very long time now and finally have the time and energy to devote to it! I look forward to asking copious amounts of questions and learning from this awesome community and eventually eating home baked bread, no matter how awful my first several batches may come out hahahaha!

Best wishes,

Andre DF

I've only been baking for something over a year, so I still remember the #1 lesson I learned starting out. KISS. Start with something basic. If you have a dutch oven or can borrow one, I'd go with an AP no-knead loaf. With a bit of care, you should get an edible loaf first time, and once you're comfortable with that, it's very easy to start adding (seeds, cheese, olives, etc.) substituting part of the AP (for whole wheat, rye, etc.), changing the hydration, etc., which will open up an infinite range of possibilities.

Thanks Arjon! I appreciate the advice and I will most certainly keep it simple to start!
