St.Martins Weckmann

and the ball season.   and...  The start of the jelly donut season stuffed with Vanilla Pudding or Apricot jam!  (No other fillings are seriously considered.)  End of the growing season and the planting of the winter wheat and grains.

St. Martin of Tours is my town's patron saint.  St Martin was the Roman turning monk that cut and gave half his winter cloak to a poor almost naked raisin eyed man on the street.  :)   It's also Armistice day to end WWI.  Traditionally children walk with self made lanterns from house to house singing.  He is patron saint to children and the poor.  Wiki link
