Probably my last experiment on baking with pots

A friend from other state decided to pay a visit and I was asked if I could bake a sourdough bread for her. Having another opportunity to bake, I said yes of course! Also, this bake would probably be my last experiment on baking with different kind of pots as I have come to the conclusion that a stainless steel pot yields a better result compared to a clay pot. The crust is crunchier and oven spring is good too! This bake has also convinced me to purchase a cast iron Dutch Oven ASAP! No more excuses :)

So here are just a few shots that I managed to take before everybody wolfed down my bread, I was very pleased indeed.

Looked a bit lop sided, got to improve on my shaping though!

A closer look at the crust.

Looks good! :) If you didn't mention it, I wouldn't have guessed you used a stainless steel pot to bake your breads.

Thank you and hope your business is thriving in Seap Reap...eager to hear about your latest creation too.

make sure you order a cast iron  'Combo Cooker' instead of a Dutch Oven.  Combo cookers are much easier when it comes to bread making.

Well Done and Happy baking

Due to the time differences, I only received your message at 6am today and I have already placed the order for a regular cast iron Dutch Oven...and not what you have suggested. Oh well, I bet it can't be too bad either. Thanks for the thought and am eagerly waiting for this parcel to arrive now. Got to wait for a week though and my hands are getting real itchy now! Have a good day there.

Cheers,

Sandy

That is a great looking bread. I love the crumb. Are those olives in it?

I love my enameled dutch oven. It was a present from a friend and it works great for my bread. Also love it for cooking chili. I even used it for a moroccan lamb stew last night. Don't know how I lived without it before!

There were raisins actually. Though on a second thought, they look like olives. Read your blogs and understood you made some great looking and tasty bread with olives and they looked oh so yummy :)

Olives always take me back to the days when I was in west of France where my relatives would buy some fresh olives from the farmers market and we would feast on them as an aperitif.....they are so fragrant and fruity that you just can't stop eating them. However, finding such olives in where I live now will be near impossible.

Hope your day is going well so far....happy baking there.

Best Regards,

Sandy
