The strands didn't fuse together into one which is a big problem most people find. Kept its shape really well.

Did you retard it for a while?

Yes, I retard almost all my doughs.

To avoid getting the strands fused together do not pull on the strands while braiding and leave space for the second raising of the dough.

to try fancier braiding.  I'm not sure you saw my versions although I followed the graphics in Hamelman's bread book but I was pleased with the results and it was fun to do.  Keep them coming!
