New to this site but not to Bread and baking

Hello everyone. I was drawn to this site with the prospect of making my own starter and Getting Wild Yeast to grow. I am a retired Grandma of sorts and love to Bake everything. If I could I'd bake bread every day. I love the feel of the dough and I love seeing it rise to the top of the bowl the intoxicating smell of that Yeast mass just gives me goose bumps....LOL But alas its just Grandpa and me now. No more kids to raise and Grand children we have lots but close by not many. So Im here to learn, you're never to old for that. So if you see me lurking around don't be alarmed, just give me a shout hello.

We are here to help and to get help.  Floyd Mann is our host.  I suggest you try Debra Winks method of making your own starter:

Mike Avery has a lot of information on his web site also: http://www.sourdoughhome.com/

Make full use of the Search box in the upper right of this page.

Now go for it, Grandma, from Great GrandPa.

If the bread pics are alluring then you are in the right place. I am in a similar circumstance but always manage to find someone to share my bread with. Many times I slice up a sandwich loaf and freeze half. It just takes a few minutes to defrost and a toaster helps with that. Many tricks to learn.

Welcome home!
