Hello from New York

Hello everyone,

I just started baking bread and am really hooked! I started making the sourdough recipes from the Breadtopia site, and then went and purchased Peter Reinhart's Whole Grain Breads book to get in more deeply. Well after making a couple 100% whole grain sourdough breads I am all in now! I had no idea how great tasting eating more healthy could be!

I am milling wheat berries with the milling attachment for my Kitchenaid and baking 2-3 loaves a week. Trying to stay with the basics for now to learn without getting to distracted with all the great additions- I made a Rosemary Onion Sourdough last week and it was delicous- but trying to stick to experimenting with 100% hard red winter wheat for now and changing up the variables a bit till I understand how they affect the loaf better.

I am looking forward to participating here!

Am sure you will love this site.  Everyone is friendly and helpful.  I'm originally from Albany, NY but now live in GA.  Any questions you have someone will help you out.

like the rest of us, at least bread is a good hook.... so long as you stay out the of auto parts store looking for new ingredients :-)

Happy SD naking

Thanks for the welcome. My wife was a little surprised when two 40lb pails of wheat berries showed up today but at least it will keep me out of the auto parts store haha!
