Is a Hobart an overblown namebrand?

Or is a Hobart just as good as any other commercial oven. It seems as if Hobarts have a lot of reputation attached to the name, yet I see Blodgett, Bakers Pride etc with similar features and pricing. I sometimes see Hobart listed with GE/Hotpoint, why is that?

I used Hobart equipment in many commercial kitchens for years. A more reliable piece of equipment I could not imagine. Keep in mind that it has been at least 10 years since I was in the biz so things may have changed. I cannot speak to their "consumer" stuff though.

Wonderful news, hands on experience I value quite highly!

Now for a specific question: have you ever heard of this model, SCVX20E? It has a boiler installed and is an electric convection with manual controls.

I have used many brands of ovens, mixers, steam injectors, dishwashers, etc... I have always found hobart to be outstanding. Not that others aren't as well, but Hobart has always been reliable for me.
