Hello From Newfoundland Canada

Hello folks, and firstly, many thanks to Admin and those who provide this site.

My name is Jamie, and as the subject says, I'm from Newfoundland Canada.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot about breads and baking here, just a day or 2 lurking have already showed how little I actually know.

The main thing that actually got me hooked on baking bread was my first successful "traditional" Irish Soda Bread a few years ago. I've had a few successes with other breads, but seriously looking to expand to French and Italian breads, and some European "peasant" breads (as dad calls them).

Again, thanks for having me.

Jamie

Benvenuto Jamie,

sono felice del tuo ingresso ed invio un saluto al tuo meraviglioso Canada.

Non vedo l'ora di vedere le tue produzioni.

A presto,  un saluto dalla Toscana.

Anna

Did you have snow or freezing rain or simply rain in this last storm?  We had some of each and the smell of bread baking on a day like this is heaven.

I've learned a ton here in the couple of months since I started baking. Hope your experience will be similar. And that the cold passing through here this week doesn't make it as far east as you.

6 C and rainy here. Still weather that makes you want to stay inside and bake. :)

3 above can be a heatwave in Northern MN.  Currently the wind is calm and the air is dry, so it is a nice day to walk in the woods with my dog buddies.  Baked wild rice sourdough last evening and today my plan is to bake Eggnog cookies.  Good way to use up the last of the eggnog is to bake it into treats for visiting grandchildren.   Welcome, Jamie!  You will find TFL members are knowledgable and share their baking expertise generously.  My bread is much improved thanks to TFL friends.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Paddy, we have a bit of everything every storm. Sunday was -15 C with show on the ground, yesterday was +8 and muddy with today below freezing again.

I just have a couple of laves of plain whole wheat sandwich bread on to rise now, so far so good but we'll see how it turns out.

So many questions I don't know where to start, so I guess I'll start with a couple of simple ones.

Are you old enough to know your native tongue?  I've been away so long I need to practice when I can, lol.

Like you, I didn't learn to bake at me mudder's knee - thank God for Floyd and TFL!

Nice folks and lots to learn here.  And no, I don't usually talk like that :-)
