Harsch fermentation crock

I was wondering if anyone uses the smallest of these crocks (5L) for keeping their starter in?

I would love to have one of those to make my small batch sauerkraut and kimchi to use the airlock feature. Starter doesn't really need an airlock so I don't think I'd use it for that. For my starter,I use a pint-sized, wide mouth canning jar. If you need to keep larger amounts, perhaps a quart-sized jar would work.

Clazer, I do have the 40L and a 15L as well as the conventional crocks for my sauerkraut. In fact, I just finished putting up my sauerkraut last Thursday. We did 32 head of cabbage.

I found this instead of the expensive Harsch crocks, http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=32443726

This 1 gal. crock with lid looks like it'd work well for my starter at roughly 1/2 the cost.
