tags for forum posts?

Floyd and others,

I was curious if anyone else is interested in a way of adding tags to forum and blog posts, whether they be #hashtags or regular tags. Is there a way to do this in the current TFL configuration?

Was just thinking about how it might be able to search TFL for common topics. I don't really have any major complaints about the search, just thought it might be easier to categorize (or find) items that are related to TFL topics.

Thoughts?

Yeah. The site started with and had tags for a number of years. My impression is that they caused more confusion than they added value. Tags like "Can someone help me find a cheap mill?" or 20 differently spelled tags for the same thing ("ww flour", "Whole wheat flour", "wholewheatflour", "hole wheat flower", " whole, wheat, flour" etc.) were not uncommon. I also saw tags like " I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE" even though it wasn't a required field. And traffic stats didn't show the tag pages getting much use. So I removed them.

But I could revisit it at some point. Hashtags have become much more common than when I started TFL, so it might not confuse folks as much as it did then.

Thanks Floyd, makes good sense.
