SAN FRANCISCO SOUR DOUGH BREAD

HI EVERYBODY,

I AM SCHEFFY A SWISS NATIONAL AND RETIRED IN MANILA , PHILIPPINES.

COULD ANYONE PROVIDE ME WITH THE RECIPE TO MAKE A FINE TASTING SAN FRANCISCO SOUR DOUGH BREAD.

PLEASE INCLUDE AS WELL THE STEP BY STEP PREPARATION FOR THE SOUR DOUGH STARTER.

and welcome to TFL :-)

The sourdough starter recipe I used, and which appears to be the most successful here on TFL, is the pineapple juice starter Part 1 and Part 2.  The posts are very long and detailed, so if you'd rather skip to the instructions, go to the end of the second post.

If you're just starting out, a good book would be your best bet.  Maybe you could order one while your starter is maturing (it will take a good couple of weeks until it's ready to bake with).

This recipe for a simple San Francisco-style bread was the first one I attempted (with success) when I started my sourdough journey.  There are also many more recipes to be found using the search box in the top right-hand corner of the page.
