Coconut macaroons

Hi,

We will have a family lunch next saturday so I would like to prepare coconut macaroons for my grandchildren. It will be my first macaroons so I'd be pleased if anyone can help, I'm looking for easy recipe. My grandchildren enjoy pastries filled with coconut so any suggestions would appreciated too. Thanks

If you have access to Maida Heatter's Book Of Great Chocolate Desserts, that has the best recipe for coconut macaroons I have ever made.  It not only has some chcolate chips (6 oz to 10.5 oz coconut), but you spread melted semisweet chocolate on the bottoms of the macaroons, after they cool, then place them on wax paper, and when it hardens, peel them off.   Here's a tip, that will help with that, and others, as well: use Release Foil, as nothing else works, except teflon sheet liners I have tried.  NS pans and parchment release the first few, but then they start sticking. Something about macaroons sticks worse than anything, and in old recipes they often have you bake them on paper, then soak it to get them off!  Release foil is much easier.

I forgot to add another tip - to make 36 cookies, the amount listed in the recipe, I found 23g to be the amount to drop onto the sheets.

I had the opportunity to read the book pepperhead, delightful one with great and yummy pictures, I love it. I would recommend Delices & Gourmandises catalog too, there are simple recipes for beginners; it is most appreciated by French food lovers but there's also several recipes you can try at home including Coconut macaroons Jarod; And in case you want to to get a break out of the kitchen, you can simply order the items you are interested in.

Thanks for recommendation pepperhead, my husband said that I can find the book at Amazon but I do not know much about the pricing. How can I get Delices & Gourmandises catalog Lovely? My nephew has just ordered pastries there but I have never heard of catalog, maybe there's another process.

You can download Delices & Gourmandises catalog from their website, it is free I think; I suppose that your nephew got prizes too, had he?

Yeah, he received a TV LCD with an amount of money, around 2000€ but I do not really remember Lovely. Once he got the prizes, he went in Australia with his family, till now we haven't been seeing them maybe they are still there. Does Delices & Gourmandises sell almond cakes and butter cookies? you know those in blue boxes, I use to keep cookies boxes at home for my grandson when the later come to visit us.

You're welcome catbromer, here is one of Delices & Gourmandises english blog I discovered few weeks ago http://delicesandgourmandises.wordpress.com/

I do not really expected prizes from Delices & Gourmandises when I came to order my first item but I have some acquaintances who won TV LCD with some amount of money like Jarod's nephew, I do not know if it was luck but it does exist.
