Site issues/questions

1.  Why do I get kicked out of my login on regular basis?

2.  Why can't I access profiles of some members and get "You are not authorized to access this page" message?

1. Every two weeks or so you have to sign back in.  Beyond that, I don't know.

2. If it was a spammer, because I've blocked or deleted their accounts.  Active accounts you should be able to see.

1.  Seems to be more often than that.  Or may be my sense of time is off

2.  Active is the keyword.  I was looking at people who aren't - Eric and Norm.

Why is it so hard to post photos from an iPhone? Can't cut and paste and even the upload function doesn't work. I craps out when I choose the file and click upload. Just returns a blank screen and no file is added.

I suppose it could be the phone…

It's the [i]OS.  Same thing on my iPad. :(

Internet forums are typically an engineered collection of HTML pages. Forums are not fully functional software applications of the ilk of Microsoft Word/Excel etc. Therefore the is no concept of cutting and pasting pictures as you might do in MS applications. HTML is just text. Lines of text and code. There are no pictures in HTML, only coded references to places where pictures exist. So to "post up" a picture all you are really doing is providing the URL link to where that picture is sitting. That's why you have to first upload any picture you have to the server and then provide the link to that picture in your posts. Or you can upload the pic to some other server on a photo hosting website like say Tinypic.com and then provide the link to it in your posts.

If you're having problems uploading your iPhone pics to the FreshLoaf server then I would think that's an iPhone/Apple related issue or security issue. Uploading works fine from a laptop. File transfer over the net is achieved using standard protocols. Apple has always been about establishing its own proprietary world, (one reason I've never been an Apple fan). Proprietary always means you'll have more hassle and pay more money, for proprietary cables, proprietary file transfer mechanisms, proprietary data conversion tools and so on. So it doesn't surprise me if there are restrictions or issues or . . . hassle. . . when trying to upload files from an iPhone "folder" to what is a pretty industry standard format internet forum. Such is life. Easy solution would be to just plug the photo SD card into a PC/laptop and transfer from there assuming there is an SD card?!

One being that you can't copy a photo's web address from an iOS browser the same way you can do on an X86 machine, which as you say ElPanadero you would need to do in order to drop in the URL. Then, even with Flickr, if you do manage somehow to find and copy your own pic's URL from the sidebar they provide, with iOS the link still won't work on this site and all you will get within the body of your post is one of those little blank blue Image? boxes. OTOH, the one thing that does work for posting a pic here under iOS is uploading a cover image for a new thread, you can choose any from your own files and it will show up on top.

By way of example, if I have a facebook photo, I right click, copy, and then paste it here on TFL and it works fine.

I know uploading works from a computer. And, no, there is no SD card but that is not an easy solution. At least no easier than e-mailing the photo to myself and then uploading it from a desktop.

It is just weird that it gives me the option to upload a photo straight from the phone, lets me select the photo from the camera roll, but simply fails to do anything once I click upload.

The reason I am having difficulty with the iPhone is because the resolution of the photo is too high.  I believe a work around is possible by "snapping" the photo from facebook (pressing the power and home button) and then cropping the photo.  I tried that once and it let me upload the photo from the phone, since it was a smaller file size than the camera's normal resolution.
