Artisan baking app

Hi everyone! I am an amateur baker / app maker from an artisan bakery in the UK! I have made a free recipe app / dough calculator for Android and I'd love if you all had a look. I plan to develop the app into one big recipe book! - A user-based recipe sharing app, but I need your help with feedback etc!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ollygrov.doughpro&hl=en_GB

I hope this post won't be considered spam because this is a free product which I've made for bakers everywhere, I'm trying to get the word out and through the support I can develop this app into something everyone can benefit from!

(If however the mod's do not approve of this post and consider it spam then please feel free to remove)

Downloading it now. It looks like it will be very helpful and convenient. I usually do this stuff with a piece of paper, pencil, and regular calculator. This app will make things much simpler and easier! Making it into "one big recipe book" will be great, too. Looking forward to it!

Looks very interesting and helpful for Android users.  Any plans for an Apple iOS app as well?

I would love for it to be on iOS but I'd have to build it from scratch.. Maybe in time. That's great guys, I appreciate the positive feedback, I'm working on adding your own recipes at the moment, I also had a video tutorial section planned to demonstrate how to roll baguettes, bloomers, specialty breads etc would that be of use to anyone? Should I concentrate on the adding recipe feature first off because I know most of you would mainly find the app's calculator of use. If there is anything you'd find useful within in the app like other calculators (by water weight etc) then please don't hesitate to tell me! I want to make this the best I can make it! :)

The problem is iOS and Android applications are written in two different languages (ObjC & Java), I don't know ObjC and it would take me a few months to learn it. There is an application which can supposedly port code from Java to ObjC but I don't know the quality of the port, it could not work at all and be buggy and low quality.

Then there is the distribution, Apple App Store is a lot more complicated to publish in than Google Play Store, it has more quality control inspection and checks. So unfortunately even though I'd love for it to be on there and I would reach a wider audience, it would take a lot of work to get it there, and a lot of time I simply don't have. I made this app in my few hours a day spare time away from the bakery to help me progress my career in I.T.

So all in all, I apologise for lack of iOS support, hopefully it'll get there some day, but it will have to be put on hold for now.

Just downloaded the App after reading your posting on TFL. I am looking forward for the opportunity to add my own recipes and be able to scale it easier than I am doing now. Will try it this weekend with one of your recipes in there.

Hi everyone I set up a Facebook page, feel free to 'like' it and share with your friends if you think they will like it too!

Adding recipe feature is coming along nicely! Already pinned out the layout and some of the code. Thanks for the support
