Hello from Singapore!

Hi everyone! I am twj and this is my first post in TFL! :)

Brief introduction of myself, I am 24 years old this year and my father has been a baker from the past 30+ years. My family has been running a bakery business for the past 16 years too!

Only till recently that I develop a passion for baking (maybe partly because of my aging father? I wish to lighten his load and eventually take over the business!). I hope my stay here will be a fruitful and enjoyable one. Hope to learn as much as I can from fellow bread enthusiasts in TFL!

Take care and have a nice day everyone!

Hi ww,

my family run a traditional bakery around Tiong Bahru area. :)

Anyway, anyone here have details regarding baking schools/courses in Taiwan or Japan catering for beginner? Preferably for the course to be completed under 8 weeks and teaches asian style of breads/cakes/pastries/etc.

Hi twj! Nice to hear from another baker in Singapore. Actually there are quite a few enthusiastic home bread bakers in Singapore too! Maybe we can organise a meetup session of sorts to get to know each other and learn from one another too. Can't help on the baking schools part but I am sure someone will chime in.

Hello, niz to know there is another Singaporean on board.  I am also new to into bread making and is more of a passion and love of eating & enjoying a good piece of Bread not those commercial ones. Indeed this is an interesting place & Ive tried a few recipes from here and still a long way to go. Have fun & please feel free to share. :)

I am no baker yet. Still an absolute beginner (not sure if I even qualify to be a beginner!) but I am willing to learn as much as I can just to bake some delicious bread!

Reading "The Bread Baker's Apprentice" now! Anyway, is there any good recommendation for bread "textbook"?
