Storing fresh baked bread

hello everyone,

this is my first post on this site, I hope I am putting this question in the right place. 

I am looking at making some challah this weekend and I was wondering how long fresh baked bread lasts for. Is there anything I can do to make it last longer?

My experience is this:  store bread on the counter at room temperature, preferably in a plastic bag, if your plan's to eat it all up within a day or two.  If you're going to take longer than that, slice it, put the slices into a freezer plastic bag, put the bag into the freezer, then remove the pieces as you need them.  They can be left to thaw on the countertop or toasted at that point.

Don't ever store bread in the fridge as that's the quickest path to stale bread.

As I usually put my bread in the freezer but made the mistake of bringing it down to the fridge to thaw.
