And the winner is...

I don't know if folks saw but the 2013 James Beard Award Winners were just announced.  In the Baking & Dessert category, Ken Forkish's Flour Water Salt Yeast: The Fundamentals of Artisan Bread and Pizza is the winner.  Deservedly!

That's nice to know. The book really deserves all the accolades. I was initially skeptical about it after seeing the You Tube video, wasting so much starter, but once I got the book I was glad I did not go on mere impression. I do not follow his advice on starter wastage, but otherwise each and every bread made from his book is wonderful. I also think that it is one of the best written and presented books, though I rarely judge a cookbook by anything apart from how it works out in my kitchen.
