Portuguese sweet bread question

I never had portuguese sweet bread so I don't know what to expect flavor wise.

I was expecting it to have a distinct sweet taste mine didn't have that but the bread is soft and gave off a citrus aroma . I got the recipe from reinhart's BBA.
