One of my favorite breads and extra

Maggie Glezer - Tomcat's Semolina Filone

I baked with family and friends for the holidays

German Christmas Biscuits/Cookies

These are soooo delicious, full of spicey goodness, coated with two different glazes and topped with sugar crystals for a little extra holiday shine.  I used my candied orange peel finely chopped instead of orange grated, which made a nice touch.  I will definately make more of these.

Think Almond Roca

Took me a while to find this resized photo...sorry for the delay posting :)

May this New Year Coming be blessed for all.

in every way Sylvia!  Love the Tomcat Semolina Filone crumb and crust.    We love to dip this kind of bread in EVOO, black pepper herbs, parm and  balsamic too! It's as close heaven as you can get to bread. A little cheese and some pate and out with the old year.....

Happy New Year Sylvia.

Tom Kat Filone is one of my faves as well Sylvia, and yours looks delicious! This is such a good recipe, I really should make it more often than I do since it's always a hit with the kids and our friends. I'm thinking Almond Roca but your take on it looks so much better than the commercial stuff  it's making me re-think what the confection should really look like. Not sure if this is your last bake of the year, but if it is it's a fine way to end 2012.

Have a super New Year's Sylvia, and all the best for 2013!

I'd do a cookie swap with you anyday :^)
And that bread! Perfection.

And the crumb on the Tomcat's Semolina Filone! Just wanna bury my face in it (sorry - sounds a bit carnal)! Haven't tried this one, but sounds like I need to. We're in the middle of a truly infernal heatwave at the moment, so will have to wait for less extreme conditions...but got it down on my "list"!

May the NY be just as full of good things as these with which you've ended the old one.

Cheers!
Ross

It's an inferno where you live, and we had hail today and it's much colder than usual.  I understand how you feel about baking in the heat..it can get pretty warm here too.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the TC filone.  I highly recommend this formula, and though it's a little more time consuming than the 15 minutes it says is the actual hands on time.  You'll be rewarded with one fine loaf of bread.

It was all done lovingly by hand.

David Snyder has the formula on his blog..just in case you need it.

Happy New Year!

Sylvia
