Shameless plug for baking classes

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I will be teaching classes at the Culinary Center of Kansas City during their Winter term, which begins in November.  And yes, I do have a pecuniary interest, so understand that this is a blatantly commercial post.  ;-)

The Culinary Center's web page can be found here.  You can click on the Register for Classes button at the lower left corner of the page to get the schedule for all classes being offered through February 2013.  It is laid out as a series of calendar pages, starting with October 2012.  Just scroll down to see what is offered on a particular date.  By the way, I had nothing to do with the Alton Brown references in the copy that describes each course.

Here are the classes that I will teach:

November 3 - Course #1838, Breakfast Breads.  This course will cover Sourdough English Muffins and Kolaches.

December 4 - Course #1874, Festive Christmas Breads.  This course will feature Stollen and a Bavarian Christmas Braid.

January 19 - Course #1916, Junior Chefs Breadmaking: Rolling in the Dough.  This class is for (unaccompanied!) 9-14 year old students and will cover Honey Whole Wheat Bread and Savory Muffins.

January 25 - Course #1925, Full Day Breadmaking Workshop. This class will focus on rye breads; specifically, Rustic Pumpernickel (from ITJB, thanks Stan!), Eric's Fave Rye (thank you, Eric!), and Vort Limpa.

February 16 - Course #1959, Li'l Kids in the Kitchen: Lets Learn to Bake.  Students 5-8 years in age, accompanied by an adult, will learn about Cape Seed Bread and Savory Scones.

Some of the classes are already half-full, so sign up soon if any appeal to you.  If you have friends in the KC area that you think might be interested, please share the information with them.  There are, of course, a great many other classes that may also catch your eye.

This should be a lot of fun!

that's quite a roster of classes.  Do we have a hobby getting out of hand? :>)

November/December is when I am at full bore holiday baking or I would drop by - I always threaten "my teacher" with the fact that I have enough frequent flyer miles to go anywhere at any time....

Congratualtions and good luck with all of your classes!

in January, Pat.  Use some of those miles if you like.  Maybe I could tag you as an adjunct instructor.  ;-)

If the hobby were getting out of hand, you'd see a WFO in my back yard and a spiral mixer, grain mill and other toys in my kitchen.  The teaching is as much for my entertainment as it is for the students' education.

 - be careful what you wish for.  Anywhere.... Any time...  It would be fun to actually meet another of Mark's overworked interns.

Just because I was thinking of where I might put a wood fired oven does not mean the hobby is getting out of hand :>).  Of course, the serious inquiry into the MiWe Condo might qualify...

Again, good luck with your classes!

Love the title of breadmaker extraordinaire (well deserved); the Alton Brown references are a great compliment, Paul.

Alas, a bit too far for me to travel, but I know your students are going to have a great time.

That five to eight year old group sounds like both fun and a challenge.  Terrific photo-op!

While I know that I can deliver a quality class, I don't know that I can live up to the expectations that those class descriptions may be creating.  That will be something to address right at the start of each class, I suspect.

Thank you for your compliments.

I definitely want to watch another class for the younger groups to see how things go.  That will give me a benchmark for what to do when I teach my classes.
