I saw a recipe for a no knead bread using Pilsner beer. I bought the beer and now I cannot find where the recipe is on-line. Can I just substitute the beer for the water?
Should be totally interchangeable.
Depending on the amount of alcohol in the beer, it might affect yeast growth, so you may need to increase yeast slightly.
I have had variable success using beer for water if the recipe calls for water. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. So, I usually don't try more than 1/2 the liquids. With the no-knead bread version I did have to let it sit out longer.
