A new BreadHead in the midst :)

Hi guys,

I admit that I am a bread & coffee addict of the first form.  I love all types of bread and many types and flavor of coffee.

I received a bread maker many. many years ago as a gift because of my passion for bread.  I used it faithfully for about a year then relegated to just purchasing my breads from the many venues in my area.

After stumbling across this site looking while looking for breads to compliment my coffee, I decided that I might try to resurrect bread baking; especially since we are in a repress economy.

I have read how some here are saving quite a bit by baking their own bread and I love the idea about going organic and knowing exactly what is in the bread.  (I use to raise Hubbard White Mountain chicken many years ago as well and two weeks before I processed them (you know what that means), I would put them in cages and feed them nothing but cracked corn and sweet feed.  I knew exactly what they were eating which did not include preservatives or worms and the meat was delicious!)

Anyway I digress, I might use the bread maker to partially prepare the dough or perhaps invest in a Holbart after researching it or just doing it the old fashion way which I will determine after I have peruse this site for a while a get a handle on the consensus; after all I am migrating from a bread consumer to a bread consumer AND baker (ha-ha).

As I mentioned earlier my other passion is savoring a hot cup of coffee anytime of the year and ice coffee during the same time frame.

Do any of you drink coffee with your breads (whether it be wheat toast, cake, pies, tarts etc...)?

I have a blog that I maintain for coffee drinkers that offer more than just coffee info.  It also is a place for easy reading "WHILE" savoring a cup of coffee at   coffeeretreat[dot]com.

Stop by from time to time, I am hopeful that there are others who are just as passionate about bread & coffee as I am.

I am truly excited about finding this site in hope that I will be able to share your bread experiences with my coffee readers by way of linking to TheFreshLoaf and/or by reposting some articles after securing proper permissions of course.

As you can see I too am longwinded and it's a good thing this is a writing post and not a verbal conversation (ha-ha).

Nonetheless, I am happy to be here.

Welcome Breadhead!

I drink coffee with my bread quite often, especally in the morning.  A nice Costa Rican with a chunk of french sourdough, toasted with avocado and brie on top (a favorite breakfast as of late).

Yesterday I had a lemon sticky bun with some lovely coffee from Ghana, really brought out the fruityness.  I used to work as a barista, which started my love of coffee.  Coffee/Tea are inseperable from bread-y combustibles in my mind.

WOW Baybakin!

That sounds GREAT!  I'm not a big avocado fan but I simply love toasted bread with any type of cheese (for the most part).

After reading your post, I had to prepare myself a cup of White Tarik coffee (a coffee mix).  However, I have no freshly bake bread available so I settled for a lightly buttered toasted english muffin which I am hoping I will learn how to make from someone on this forum.

While brie is an excellent choice, try toasting your sourdough with colby/jack cheese; you will be pleasantly surprised at the taste.

Sometime next week, I think I will put the lemon sticky bun on my menu.

It sounds to me like you know your breads and coffee.

Did I say how excited I am to be here?  It's like Christmas in June (haha)

Shortly after sending the above post, a sourdough english muffin recipe appeared on the right sidebar of this site("Also On The Fresh Loaf"); talk about service!

Soon to be,

CoffeeBreadHead :)

My staple saturday breakfast is mashed avocado spread onto toasted sourdough, with some exceptionally strong freshly-ground coffee; heavenly.

Welcome!

Whoo-Hooooooo Grenage!

"Exceptionally Strong Coffee" you say?  Wow! that would put hair on my chest.  I do enjoy strong coffee but I am afraid to discover what "Exceptionally strong" is to you. (ha-ha)

FTR, I am no longer CoffeeRetreat on this site but rather CoffeeBreadHead in case someone was wondering what happened.

I love the moniker BreaHead but that was already taken (by 4 weeks - bummer) but fortunately, CoffeeBreadHead will work as I simply love them both; great match like peanut butter & jelly!

If there isn't a thick oily residue at the bottom, and your eyes don't roll into the back of your head when you take the first sip - it's too weak!  Admittedly my stomach can only handle a couple of mugs; I blame the Swedish, once you get used to theirs, there's no going back.

With a moniker like, at least nobody can misunderstand your preferences. ;)

Now you've peeked my curiousity and I will have to do some research on Swedish coffee and post the results on coffeeretreat.com as I never knew such a thing.

Thanks for sharing :)

Hey guys since we're here,

I would like to extend you an opportunity to purchase a cofferetreat mug that I am selling on the sales page of TFL if you care to go there and take a look.
