Keep trying and youll get better. Practice, Practice, Practice... :)
I will keep trying, and weighing, and kneading, and benching, and shaping, and proofing, and baking till 3:00am, and sharing my photos for those encouraging words... Thanks
The comments of the "practice, practice, practice and you'll get better" kind of rubbed me wrong, I wondered what could have been improved on. Then after giving it some thought, the writer was probably being funny, as it all looked great. Am I wrong?
at the end of the note, I inferred it to be attempted humor in the form of a left-handed compliment. It probably didn't play as well as intended, given the medium.
sorry, trying to be encouraging. Didnt look good to me, especially the baguette crumb pic, three large holes and the rest looked like melted plastic. the other pics looked good, but when it comes to edible bread, I envision a light airy crumb that is soft. Having the largest holes in your bread isnt what bread baking is about. I dont mean to be mean though.
Try not to describe peoples hard work as "melted plastic", we (Fresh Loaf goers) post to share with a community of bakers who have a mutual respect for the craft we all love. If your vision of good bread is not mine than maybe you should have enough experience and maturity to post some actual advice than a passive aggressive cliche or dictate "what bread baking is about".
your right, I'm sorry. I wasnt trying to be a jerk. But dont talk to my ex's they would all tell you I am. But then again... our worst critics should be our best friends... unless your in pre-school. The real question here is " are you satisfied with your bread?", " did you have to post pictures to get some kind of approval from your peers?" I have learned so much from this web site, and spent alot of time learning to bake bread, my bread has gone from being a unedible hardened paste to a delicious piece of heaven. So what does baking bread mean to you?
And in my defense you did title this thread " Whatcha think?" instead of " Be nice, this is my first attempt..." or something to that nature.
I wish I could eat that.
I wish I could bake like that.
I wish I could take pictures like that.
Do you have a blog?
Thank you, I do not have a blog, but have been thinking about it.
look well baked and delicious. Love the shot where a meal is shown using the bread. It brings the whole process together and reminds us why we bake bread - to eat well. Thanks.
