Hi

Hello, and thank you for this awesome site. I have been visiting daily for months now, gathering much knowledge along the way. I've been baking bread for a few years but the past  year I have been finding myself in the land of artisan loaves.  I do also enjoy baking enriched breads and rolls, sweets, cakes, muffins, cookies, biscotti, etc. My biggest problem is I don't have enough people around to eat all the baking!

I live in a tiny Saskatchewan town (pop 800) where it's mighty cold at the moment so frequent baking is indeed comforting.

If there is a senior center near your house, the elders there would love your sharing your homemade goodies... just a thought. I am sure they would not turn you away! And what pleasure you would bring to their day.

Welcome and enjoy.

My 81 year old mother who lives nex door to me certainly enjoys the stone baked lean breads and they invoke a lot of memories for her. Both my mother and grandmother baked in a wood stove with no temperature gauge; the most recent recollection was of my immigrant (Ukrainian) great grandmother who had 16 children and baked a great many loaves in a wood fired outdoor oven. My little town is full of octogenarians (and older!), most of whom still live in their own homes and still do their own baking (old eastern european hard working souls).  But I'll bet a warm loaf or two, sliced up and served with butter at their little once-a-week bingo just might be a hit. Thanks for the idea!
