News breaking now in the UK is showing dreadful fires. Very troubling.

Daisy,

No I havent seen a posting for a few days. However the best of the bad news is there is no reports of loss of life. I'm sure they will be OK.

Floods in the East and Fires in the West yet I wouldn't swap my country for all the tea in China.

Cheers..............Pete

Thanks Pete, that's good to know!

I have some family in Largs Bay nr. Adelaide. They have had some near misses with bush fires but thankfully not this year. Am thinking of those threatened by flood and fire but know that Australia is beautiful also!

My aunt used to dive a lot as a younger woman and my cousins still sail so they give good accounts of the upside of living close to nature also! I take your point that you would not swap!

Seems to have been an odd few months in many places. UK has been colder than it has since Queen VIctoria's reign with floods and some landslides after the snow.I see many other parts of the world are also facing extremes.  Bring on more stable weather for everyone...

Hi Again Daisy,

These conditions are very characteristic of our land. Our nature here tends to thrive on it and is very forgiving when it returns to normal. Our native plants and trees need bush fire to generate the next lot of seeds and floods tend to move top soil around in the plains. It's fauna and flora working with the forces of nature. Something that humans I'm sure take a lesson from. Thus unfortunatly from time to time there is human cost in life and homes etc.

These conditions are not new here and are as old as active volocanoes are to Asia and tornadoes in America.

The best way to explain what I am saying go to

This piece of famous Australian classic poetry was written over 100 years ago describes in nature what was happening a hundred years before and every chance 500 years before that again.............Cheers again........Pete
