Cheese & other toppings in my bread machine

I'm wondering about how many have tried adding cheese or other toppings after the baking cycle has finished.  Our breadman has a warming cycle that lasts for 60 mins after the baking, and I'm wondering if that would be the best time to add asiago cheese (shredded) to the top and let it melt during that warming cycle.  Anyone have experience with this?

If you want it as a topping I'd add it near the end of the bake cycle - maybe 10 minutes from the end.  I don't like to leave my bread in the bread machine after baking is done because it tends to make the crust tougher.
