Dough Boys (for Easter?)

Has anyone ever heard of "dough boys" or "doughboys?" I found (and made) a recipe for them in a series of books (at least 30 years ago) and have never found it again. The recipe was supposed to be "traditional" Easter bread in some country ... so traditional that I've never been able to find it during several internet searches. The end result was a roll in the shape of a man (boy) with dough arms wrapped around an egg (white or red). It made a nifty Easter breakfast roll, and it could be easily faked, but I was looking for the (supposedly) traditional recipe.
