Hi Yozza,

Those are beautiful loaves. Did you use a glaze? Their lovely shape and shine will surely make them stand out. I am sure they will be a great contribution to the fund raiser.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your friend.

Best wishes, Daisy_A

Hi Daisy i used an egg and milk wash, the wholemeal was washed prior to going in the oven and the beetroot for the last 5 minutes of baking, the opaque look comes from the fact that the dough was fairly liberaly dusted with rye flour.

Goodmorning Yozza

Great bake - they'll be snapped up. Best wishes for the sale today, it'll be interesting to hear more about it. Is there a specific project the funds will be used for?

I too have your friend in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks folks for the  comments and kind thoughts expressed i have printed them off and will pass them to the ladies at the hospital.

I have had to be strong and not cut into the breads to either see if the beetroot colour has remained or for my breakfast.

I did a beetroot loaf before but posted it as a chamelon bread (search chameleon bread) SORRY dont know how to add the link? as the pink had all but disappeared  to a yellow /green colour, in that dough i grated beetroot into the preferment whereas this one i used the beetroot as cubes and incorporated at the end of the mix, this time i also used the water the beets were boiled in for a lovely hot pink preferment. More to follow !
