Stoneground Flour Milling

My husband and I are embarking on our dream of owning and operating an organic grain milling business. We will be able to supply both commercial and residential customers with daily milling of organic wholegrains with our stoneground flour mills. We will have a dedicated room and mill for gluten free grains. With the very talented, knowlegable and passionate bakers on this site I am curious which grain/flour you use the most in your baking and which is your favorite.

is getting press here in the USA. I see you're in Canada, where I understand most of it is grown. Any plans to carry it?

Yes, we are definately going to be milling Red Fife. We are getting the grains from certified organic grain farms and plan to mill different types of grains both glutenous and gluten free. We are also looking at milling white whole wheat to offer an alternative to the enriched white flour sold in Canada. Have you baked with organic white whole wheat flour? We are very passionate about the nutritional components of freshly milled organic flour and want to work closely with the consumer on what type of flour they want and if they want it sifted or not etc.  Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

The week before last I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce Stewart from True Grain Bakery in Cowichan Bay and bought a bag Red Fife Whole Wheat as well as a bag of organic white from him. I wish I'd bought some of his RF sifted as well. I'm really impressed with the flour not only for it's flavour, but for it's performance as well. In 24 years of baking professionally and at home, I think it's the best wheat flour I've ever used. If I can source this from right here on the Island that would be a huge bonus for me!

Good luck with your endeavour, and best wishes.

Hi Franko,

Thank you for your great input on the Red Fife Flour and how well it performs. We look forward to being able to offer freshly milled flour here on the Island.
