Can anyone help me?  I am not much of a baker, but I found my mom's old receipe for bread and it call for a cake of yeast.  I can't find cakes of yeast. What do I use in its place.  Thanks in advance!!

2 oz. cake yeast substitution

According to Red Star Yeast, 3 envelopes of Active Dry Yeast equals a 2 oz. cake yeast. This would work out to about 6 teaspoons(.66 oz) of Instant Dry Yeast (a little more than 2 and 1/2 envelopes).

Good luck.

 Some bake shops will sell

Some bake shops will sell you fresh/ cake yeast, it is quite cheap, and I find it gives a better flavour than the dry yeast, any shop that has a bake house on the premises. qahtan
