Hello from South of the River (Minnesota River Valley)!

Hello!  I just stumbled on this site googling around looking for ways to connect with other bakers - what a great find!!  I'm from the Southwest Metro area of Minneapolis and have always had a passion for baking and pastries, but in the last year have really found a love for artisan breads and baking is pretty much all I think about (much to the disappointment of my full time non-culinary employer!).  I've attended Culinary School and have only three months left to finish.  Baking in class was one thing, but once I successfully baked some poolish baguettes from home I knew I could have success outside of the lab at school.  I've since made many other breads and pastries from home and wish I could bake every day.  Looking forward to meeting new folks and expanding my baking network!

just way differnt rivers, I live south of the Peace River in Northern BC, used to live north of it, but have now lived south for longer than north!

I love the site, and have mined tons of recipes off it, am waiting to bake until I can concentrate on it, not have to split my attention with a room being finished. LOL then the Xmas season so it will be January before I get to play a lot. But then again, what else can one do when the weather is so bad out that the wild animals want in!

Baking is it, just hope I can get to my other freezer by then, and have a space to store the results, since I wouldn't have a taster for periods of time.

Hello EvaB!  It's definitely hard to bake when there's things like that going on in the house.

I can't wait to try some of the recipes I've seen so far!!

Hope your staying warm way up there!

Which is better now I've put up some plastic over a door that doesn't close properly, can't open it either, so it doesn't hurt to cover it and shut off some of the draft. But its darn cold, -22F this morning and supposed to be colder tomorrow, where do you think all that arctic are is coming from that is all over the western states!

Yeah baking is not easy to do inthe middle of construction on things, Have to paint the room next week, and do the floor, then I can finish it with the trim, and put up a door again, and it will be ready for occupancy. Then I can concentrate on the Xmas stuff, and then the new year I can work on my breads, there are a nubmer of recipes I want to try out, and a few that I managed to make before we got into the room thing, which turned out ok, just not fabulous. But I would like to get some decent bread going, and be able to make it for when my husband is at work, so he can take some for his two weeks away, and be able to have some decent bread.
