Bablefish was no help at all.  I know I've seen the word translated somewhere previously.  Was it bacon?  Cracklings?

What might be described as duck/goose crackling, roasted skin and some times bits of meat, normally served as pickies with drinks or as above added to bread in the place of lardons (bacon bits)
