Conference, Maine, July 29-31

King Arthur Flour is doing a Kneading and Artisan Bread Fair in Maine, July 29-31, with Jeffrey Hamelman as the keynote speaker. Of interest to me is an understanding of the milling process and the wood-burning baking sessions. It seems like money well-spent ($250-$300) if you are local or somewhat local.

Anything Out West

Hubby just built me a pizza/bread oven...wood burning...and I am just so wanting to learn more about it. I would love to attend the seminar in Maine, but school here starts that week for my son, and I cannot be away. Is there ever any similar offerings on the west side of the United States?

I didn't see anything

Either in the Midwest or on the west coast. I would encourage you to express interest on King Arthur Flour's (KAF's) blog: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/.

I am not an employee or anything like that, but the KAF organization does seem to listen to customers, be on trend, and offer interesting events.

Or take one of their courses: https://thriva.activenetwork.com/Reg4/%28S%28lzjzb0jkikyuw4mc341lmo45%29%29/Form.aspx?regkey=RpYOYPxE37%2beky8ByS4XhQ%3d%3d

They are reasonably priced.

Closer to home to you might to the San Francisco Baking Institute. They have a 3-day session but it is quite expensive $598: http://www.sfbi.com/workshop_wood_oven.html.

Or simply scout around on YouTube for videos. I've found amazing stuff on there. But for sure kiss you husband and start trying stuff. You are a lucky person.

I'd really love to attend,

I'd really love to attend, but it's so far away :(  Maybe I can talk my wife into it ;)

We are driving up from Tennessee

The timing is right and Mr Shallots hasn't had lobster in a while and it seems more interesting than anything else that's tried to get my attention this year.

It's a form of pampering that only folks on here would understand.

Let us know

Tell us how it is!

We're heading up from PA.

We're heading up from PA.  Just got hotel reservations (2nd choice) today.  But I'm confused about the registration.  Form says $250, but the workshop and lecture schedule says, "Unless otherwise specified, all lectures & workshops are open - no sign-up required."  Is it $250 for two lunches and a dinner?

Dunno

I wish I knew but I don't. If I were you I'd call King Arthur Flour: 800.827.6836. Their customer service is terrific and since they are sponsors, they'll know.
