converting regular bread recipe for bread machine use

I'm new here... are there any good tips for taking a regular bread recipe and converting it such that it can be made in a bread machine?

I just do it "as is" - but I use the bread machine for dough cycle only, then continue as normal, shape the loaf etc etc and bake in the oven = saves lots of time and energy and any recipe seems to work. If it looks like a very "wet" dough (like lots of rye), I would put it in my mixer rather than the breadmaker.
