I call myself somewhat bread-challenged but am ready to learn and expand my bread-baking skills. I have been using the 5-minutes per day approach for a while and feel fairly comfortable general bread-baking concepts. I was recently given some sourdough starter and directed to this site to learn how to care for it.

You'll find tons of advice here on your sourdough culture. Debra Wink is an authority on the scientific aspects of sourdough - just put her name in the search bar and you'll find lots of reading on the topic.
As to being bread challenged, baking great bread is always a challenge since there are so many variables. Lots of practice makes one more comfortable in meeting those challenges -- you'll find lots of help here.
Thanks Lindy. I'll search Debra wink.
This is the perfect place to learn about maintaining your sourdough starter. TFL is filled with knowledge for beginners, and those not-so-new, to the world of sourdough. I stumbled upon this site a few years ago and was blessed with help from many a soul. The search function will aid you for many a question, but if you find yourself mired or confused, there are many experienced bakers here to lend a helping hand.
(P.S. I'm the mom of an OSU graduate, 2006...and I LOVE, Stillwater!)
Thanks, I have already learned a lot.
Stillwater is a nice place to live but I find the need to spend a long weekend in the Dallas area 2 or 3 times per year to eat and shop. I usually visit Grapevine while I am there.
