First bread with my sourdough starter!

I finally used my 3 quart starter! I made four very hearty loaves of sourdough bread. They're very heavy! At least 1.5 lbs each! And they taste like wine. I wonder if that's okay...? It's yummy but I'm not sure what to expect in homemade sourdough. I took pictures....

I'm quite pleased with the crumb. Although, they all might have benefited from a feeding of the starter before I baked with it. I just didn't have the time so I just went for it. I must say I was quite successful! Not bad for my first starter I think :)

What recipe did you settle on?

I used the recipe from the same book as the starter. I don't remember what it's called, I photocopied it from a friend.

Two loaves have been eaten already!

Btw, Bob is looking very well. He peaked and fell in 4 1/2 hours. Not bad I think. I've been feeding him KA Whole Wheat Flour 1:1:1 every 12 hours. I'll probably hibernate him in a mason jar sometime next week.

That is good! I think you could even go up to feeding him 1:2:2 at this point, just so that he'll rise and fall right before you need to feed him again.

Wilson's in the fridge now...it's kinda sad not seeing him on top of the fridge anymore :-(
