This is not a very important question, but for the longest time I've been trying to change my picture and no matter what I do, it stays the same
anybody knows if there is a special trick to upload a different photo on your profile?
thanks!

Change your Picture
Sally,
Click on "My Account" on the front page. Then click on the "Edit" Tab at the top. Click on "Delete Picture" to remove the current image. Click "Save" at the bottom to actually process the delete.
Then come back to the edit page and browse for your new image. Once you have found it again save the change. That should do it.

I tried this and had the same results?
I have deleted and saved. then come back, browsed, then saved. Nothing. I may leave it photo-less for a while and keep at it. I have it resized to the right size, so thats not the issue. It doesn't give me a reason, it just won't be there?? Oh well!
P.S. I had the photo gone and I noticed when I posted this, it returned .....again!
Clearing your cache may help.
Does the system automatically name the image? It may name it based the sequence of when your account was set up (i.e. Eric's is picture-2971.jpg, etc. etc.). Browsers will cache files to speed the loading of a web page. You may have uploaded a new picture, but when your browser calls up the image, is says (not literally of course) "I already have that image on the hard drive" and thus, loads the old image. Clearing your cache will resolve the issue.

Not sure how to clean the
Not sure how to clean the cache...
but at any rate, I deleted my image. Uploaded a new one. It says all changes have been made, and when I open there is my old face staring at me again.
(sigh)
I guess I am stuck.
It will refresh
I enabled some image caching a while back when the site was having performance problems. The image will refresh for everyone in a day or two.
Oh, great! THanks so much!

Reducing Pixels
I tried to upload a profile picture, but it is 97 x 130 pixels, and needs to be reduced to 64 x 64 pixels...anyone know how I can do this?
Thanks,
Vicki
ways to reduce image size
Most photo and paint programs will have a "reduce size" option - on a mac, the iPhoto application will do this for you (select the image you want to use, then choose Export from the File menu and choose custom size from the sizing options)
I suspect that Windows must have a photo-equivalent program that comes installed as well but I dont recall now what that would be.
There are also dozens of free online services that do resizing for you... a quick google search brought up this site reducephoto.com which I was able to use just now to upload a random image from my computer and tell it to make it no wider than 64 pixels wide - (looks like with that one you have to made sure the image isnt taller than it is wide) I suspect there are many others though some only go as small as 100x100. There are probably a lot of them out there - I searched for "free online reduze size image" and came up with many pages of results in google.
I use
I use webresizer.com
works very well, it is a free web service
Thanks SallyBR and dstroy!
I feel official now that I have a profile picture!
Hopefully saving the two sourdough starters I'm working on will go as well as the picture resize!
