Submitted by dmsnyder on September 17, 2009 - 1:40pm Notification lag timeI have signed up (through "My account" settings) for e-mail notification of new content posted to TFL. It used to be that I would get very prompt notification. This was particularly useful when I was waiting for a response to a question or following an active thread. However, now I am getting notified of "new" contect about 5 days after it is posted. Not useful. Is this a problem on the TFL end, or is it my e-mail server? Or have I warped to a parallel universe the timeline of which is 5 days behind the one where TFL exists. If so, how is your stock market doing "this" week (my next week)? David

Same thing here David, so I
Same thing here David, so I believe changes have been made with the setup of TFL. I have a lag of 5 days.
Thomas
It varies
I checked my September 16 email from TFL which included notification of 23 new posts. The first post was a September 14 response and the 23rd post was dated September 16. No lag here.
I haven't checked the dates on all the blog responses and other comments because they are so many.
Not sure what this means. Maybe the Internet is faster up here in the north woods because it's so much colder??? You know - less friction on the InterTubes... :-)
lag time with posts
I too have noticed that. I also have received old posts that I have gotten weeks ago. I am also having trouble with my mail and with logging on to web sites. i just figured it was a normal thing with comcast. Pain in the peanut butter.

David, I hope that you are
David,
I hope that you are indeed in a parallel universe simply because I look forward to hearing what it is like over there, or is it here, no, no, no it must be there, I think ?

Hmm... I'm not sure what is
Hmm... I'm not sure what is up. The latest notification email I received has a combination of extremely outdated and extremely recent content. Why some of the old articles were chosen to be in there... I haven't the foggiest.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can figure out what the pattern is and try to fix it.
Thanks, Floyd!
Others have reported just what you are experiencing, Floyd.
Thanks for checking it out.
David
Floyd, might be that the program is set to
go out only after a certain amount of new posts have occurred.
Yes, might be based on a fixed amount of new posts
because this morning's email notification includes new posts from Sept 7 through Sept 24.
Floyd, under Notification settings this line pops up
Select the amount of each post that you would like to see in your notification e-mails.<<
But no link associated with it, cannot enter a number.
Thanks,
anna
Lag time
All of the notifications I get are at least 2 days old and sometimes longer. This has been going for 4-5 Months.

Glad to know I am not alone...
in this misery.... :-)
I get email notifications sometimes 10 days or more after something is posted. I am thinking about just turning it off, because it's not helping me at all. I follow the email, hoping that MAYBE this time there's something new to read, but.... nope
Same here
The lag time is going from bad to worse for some reason. Floyd is buried with the Mercy Corp relief efforts at the moment. It's just a convenience feature. I'm ignoring them.

Twilight Zone
My post (it was here last night) has disappeared. Am I real, or just a figment of my own imagination.....
P.S. I received one this morning from Sept 25.
Problem fixed
I am now getting very current updates by e-mail. Whatever the problem was before, it appears to have been fixed.
Thanks, Floyd!
David
I'm glad to hear it
I'm glad to hear it. I cleared a queue and bumped up the number of updates that can be sent out at a time. I think those changes mostly (knock on wood) fixed the issues.
