Submitted by waichin88 on August 25, 2009 - 1:46pm HelloGreetings from Canada.
I just started making bread about 2 days ago actually, and after a fairly successful attempt, I decided to keep going with it. I'm not usually someone who makes food, but I do ocassionally like to make something for my family and myself. Don't really know what else to say, but I hope that through this site, I'll be able to improve my bread-making skills (and hopefully having a bunch of my questions answered) and meet lots of new people as well.

welcome!
Welcome!
I am fairly new to this site too and have gained A LOT of great knowledge just reading on here.
I have been trying a bunch of recipes out and have had a couple of duds here and there, and a whole lot of great loaves. I recommend reading some of the books suggested/advertised on this site. I particularly loved The Bread Baker's Apprentice.
Anyway, welcome and happy bread baking :-)
Start at the beginning.
Start at the beginning.
I would recommend going to the lesson section (top of page) and start making the lesson 1 bread. Once you have a good grasp on the basics then you will have more successes than duds.
And welcome to TFL
Thanks
Thank you both for your welcome and recommendations. I've already tried out some new recipes, and looked at some of the lessons (at the top). Both are really helpful, and I'm really learning a lot.
Welcome!!
I have only been on this site a few months but have been baking bread for more than 30 years....I am STILL learning things on here!! This is the BEST site and I have passed it on to my daughters who are beginning their bread baking careers!! You will find it is extremely gratifying and SO delicious!! Just wait until the Holidays!!
Enjoy and PLEASE let us know how you are coming along!!
