How can I buy bulk flour?

I have been baking alot lately. During the week people call and ask for bread and I also have been taking it down to the local farmer's market. I need to buy in bulk but not a lot at a time. Does anyone have any ideas for buying 50 lb bags of good bread flour for a decent price? Thank you for the help.

Bulk flour

I purchase mine from a commercial bakery in my area. I have to drive a little bit to get there but their prices are much better than at my local Whole Foods market (I use organic flours).

Bulk Flour   Where are you

Where are you located.  I live in NC and travel about 3 1/2 hrs to the mill for HG flour which sells for $.48/lb.

WOW

I recently moved from Nashville to Clarksdale, MS. There is nothing like that here at all.

Buying flour in quantity

The best place for me to buy just plain bread flour or all-purpose flour (in 25# bags-usually about .28-.30 per lb) is Sam's Club or Costco, depending on your location.  The whole wheat, rye and other flours, are from the grocery (sometimes they will special order the larger bags for you).  I pour it out into large plastic bins and store it in an "out of the way" place until it's needed.  Hope this helps, paulav

Sams club flour

I am just starting out at this bread building game.Untill this afternoon I'd not made anything but the no knead that I bake in a dutch oven.Today I made 3 loaves of white bread in breadpans. The bread is great. The best I've made so far.I kneaded it and sorta enjoyed the process.Oh,I nearly forgot why I was pecking out this post.I bought a 25lb.bag of bread flour and another of all purpose at sam's club.I used the all purpose 3 different batches. The crumb looks sorta grey and I didn't care much for the taste either.I used it for no knead only.Maybe it would act differently in regular kneaded bread. The sam's bread flour I used for my kneaded bread today is good.I got no complaints. The bread is very tasty, looks great and it was great enjoyment to have success on my first kneaded attempt.I won't use anymore of sam's AP flour.I know I'm not as savy about this bread making as the rest of ya'll on here but I think there's something wrong with flour that makes a slightly grey looking crumb.Just my 2 cents worth on sam's bulk AP.

Sam's Flour

I haven't had any problems with the Sam's Club AP Flour (I also buy their BF and APF)... Maybe it was just a bad batch?
