Submitted by PMcCool on September 13, 2006 - 3:54pm Pics from last weekendHaving plunged into the digital camera pool, here are some photographs from last weekend's baking. First up, some dried cherry scones that I made for Saturday morning breakfast: Second, I made some honey whole wheat bread for this week's sandwiches: Since my wife was running short on time in the afternoon, I wound up baking a fresh apple cake to help her. I didn't think to get a picture, not that it was very photogenic to begin with. It is a very moist, heavy cake, which isn't all that surprising when you realize that there are 4 cups of chopped apples and only 2 cups of flour in it. It also has 2 teaspoons of cinnamon for even more flavor. Topping it with a warm nutmeg sauce guaranteed that it wouldn't survive long. PMcCool

Look Closer, PM
That's a knife on the board, Pizzameister, not a slot! :)

Board
Thanks, Pizzameister. The bread tastes great.
I think I picked up the board at a Marshalls store a few months ago. We have some smaller cutting boards but had been looking for a larger one. I happened to see this one on the bottom shelf in the kitchenwares section. When I looked at the price tag, I thought that there must be a mistake, because it was priced just under $10. However, when the cashier rang up the sale, that was the real price. So now I have a large board on the counter and a relatively small hole in my pocketbook.
