Hits on TFL per month
I just checked compete.com and couldn't believe my eyes. Is it really true that TFL is getting almost 100,000 unique hits per month?

yep. Pretty crazy. That's part of why Floyd has been scarce on the bread front too...a lot of just minor stuff to deal on the back end of site maintenance that just comes with having so many requests... He mentioned it in his blog a while back
And Wow again! Impressive numbers.

Yeah, I think it is over 100,000 unique visitors a month now. March was the highest traffic month ever, with over a million page views.
Quantcast has the most detailed information on TFL traffic here since I embed their code.
...that the average user of the site also visits bobvila.com? :D
I'm glad to see this place become more popular. I think it deserves it. It's a wonderful resource for the breadmaking enthusiast. I'd never be where I am with my breadmaking today if I hadn't found this place.
So kudos. Just, you know, don't forget to take some time out from the site work to bake something.
Well I guess both sites are DIY types! :-)

I belong to many online communities and this is one the best. I hit this site 10 - 20 times a day (can you blame me?) just to see if there's anything new i.e. photos, ideas, recipes, questions etc. And I often refer people here for good information. I have been to other bread making sites and for some reasons, TFL sometimes shows up on a side bar where some of our threads being displayed. If you do a Google search on a certain bread topic, you will very likely see TFL on the first two pages of search results. So yeah baby, we're hot!
Earlier this year I mentioned to Floyd that my "Virgo" habit of reading every single post had come to an end. I couldn't keep up any more! On a normal daily log in, it used to be a quick easy read..these days, forget it!
It's really nice to see all the new members and their interest. I do miss the great members of the past who haven't stayed with us, Bwraith, Zolablue and Jmonkey to mention a few and later contributors like holds99 and janedo. We're lucky to have occasional visits from SourdoLady, Mark at Bake Home Bakery, the "Susans" and Norm popped in to day.
Thank God for our resident experts Dsnyder, Ehanner and Minioven who keep us going in new directions!
Thanks Floyd & Dstroy for your labor of love and all of you who make the TFL what it is!

I'm still here every day. I don't post as much as I used to because there are so many knowledgeable people here now who can answer questions, etc., which is great. Many of them know much more than I do about various subjects. I enjoy reading some of the more 'technical' posts but I am a plain and simple type of baker so I usually don't get involved in those discussions.
on sourdough at TFL, Thankyou for still popping in and answering questions for the new bees. I see you flitting around every now and then. For those interested in sourdough, see SourdoLady's contribution in Lessons.

Seriously. When I first started making sourdough breads I joined a small forum where one of the members showed a link to TFL, a thread where you post your sourdough starter recipe. Before that I was using a starter that started with commercial yeast. Even though by the time I joined this group my starter had no commercial yeast left, I was not satisfied with the fact that it was not wild yeast. I followed your recipe and made my very first wild yeast starter. Once I got going, I was hooked! Never underestimate the power of one recipe! Thank you!
