I order all my yeast from KA

I order all my yeast from KA in the larger pack and keep it in the freezer.  It last me until the next free shipping offer.  It's always so fresh.  I have never had a problem and they have a nice assortment of different yeast.

Yeast

I usually buy my yeast at Costco and get 2 one pound bags for less than $4!! I keep the open one I am using, well closed in a zip lock bag in the fridge. The other one is vacuum sealed, so I keep it that way until I need it!! I have had it work well past it's expiration date though! Seems I never use it all up before it expires!
I am really interested in using some Fresh yeast, but have no idea where I can get it in the Boca Raton/Ft.Lauderdale area. Any ideas??
THANKS!!!

Fresh yeast..

You can try a health food store or a specialty grocery store like Wild Oats, Trader Joes.. I'm not sure what you have in Boca Raton. Your local chains like Publix, probably do not carry it.

Source for freah yeast

Jan

I live in Central Illinois and freah yeast is all I use. The closest bakery to me is 40 miles away but that beat the 100 miles (each way) before I found the new place. My point is that many bakeries use it and are willing to sell it to you, you just have to call around until you find it. I use and ounce to raise 40 ounces of dough. Works great. Harvest Bread is another soure for me, but it's a two hundred mile trip. Hope this helps.

Albertsons

I didn't realize there were still Albertson's stores around, they shut the two in our area down in the last year. Central California

Down here in LA/OC CA, there

Down here in LA/OC CA, there are still tons of Albertsons. When they downsized, they did close a few 'under performing' stores, but kept the bulk of them. The one closest to me (about two blocks) has just posted an architect's rendering of a complete remodel for the store. I think they intend to stay awhile! ; )
