Submitted by Danni-loves-2-cook on May 24, 2009 - 12:47pm my yeasty beasties at workHi all, This is my second attempt at sourdough from my wild starter made with Debra Wink's formula. The result is amazing, just what I was hoping for in a sourdough loaf. I used the Norwich sourdough recipe from the Wild Yeast blog, adding some harvest grain blend from KA. What a great bread this turned out to be. It is nice and sour with a chewy texture, open crumb, and nice crisp crust. I'd post a pic, but I can't figure out how to change the pixel size on my mac. Will keep at it and hopefully eventually figure it out and then post a pic.

pic sizing
I use irfanview on my PC for sizing pics and doing slideshows. Works great and easy to use. I see they have a MAC version and it's a free download.
Mac pic resizing
If you have iPhoto on your mac (most macs come with it pre-installed), you should just need to export the file (top menu bar, File - Export - scale images no larger than # x #) and then save it to the location of your choice. It'll preserve the ratios for you, so you really only need to pick the sizing that you want.

Changing Pixel Size on mac
If you are using iPhoto, you can do as Sephie said above. Alternately, if you are using Preview to edit your photos, do the following:
1. Open image in Preview.
2. Go to Tools -> Adjust Size
3. Set your resolution to 72dpi (Which is all you need for display on a computer screen)
3. On the right side, pull the "Inches" Drop-down to "Pixels"
4. Set your widest measurement to no more than 800. Less is probably better. 500 pixels is generally adequate for an online photo :)
5. Save our image with a new name so you retain your high-res copy.
What version?
What version are you running on your mac? That's so interesting that you can do this in Preview - I can't. I have no option to do this in the program (I just tried) and I'm bummed because it seemed easier :) Guess I'll have to stick with iPhoto
Hrm.
I'm on whatever the latest version is, I guess? OS 10.5.6 with Preview version 4.1.
Hey, congratulations!
Welcome to sourdough :-)
Check your camera settings---you may be able to select a smaller size before you take the pictures and eliminate the need to resize for TFL.
Thanks so much for all the
Thanks so much for all the help with pictures. I'll try the mac ideas first and hopefully post a pic today.
Here's the pic. Thanks so

Great job
Your bread looks great. Nice work with the camera also. My 1st attempt at a sourdough starter is bubbling and into day 4 now. I can't wait until I can use it. Dave
