Thrift STore Find

Our local Goodwill had a half off sale today and look what I got for $1.49 (regular price $2.99)!

I've been complaining of having difficulty cutting my loaves evenly, so I hope this will help.  It needs some cleaning up--I will probably sand it with some fine sand paper because it feels kind of "greasy" .

I have had some good luck at thrift stores lately.  I got my "Apple Baker" cloche for $3.99 and today this.  Yay!

wooden bread slicing guide

Good for you!  Someone put a lot of work into it once.  :)

Do you think it's handmade?

I didn't think so, but there are no markings on it, either.

I don't think it was ever used for bread as there are no marks on it from knives or anything.

I told my husband that if I ever tired of baking bread we could hang it on the wall, insert thin shelves in the grooves, and VIOLA--a CD holder!  LOL.

machine made

these are not hand made..I used an electric knife and it sliced the bread nice and even..not to thick.

By the slice

That's a great find!

I was just wondering if there

I was just wondering if there was such a thing as a bread slicer like that!

Bread slicer

I just saw this on ebay.

They have these new on Amazon

You could get free shipping if you order a book, too.  Not a bad deal.

I used to have one years

I used it all the time.  Lately I have been searching for it...I don't know where it could be...maybe in a thrift store somewhere ; )
