I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I've been fooling around with baking for the last three months. I've recently began trying to grow a starter and use it instead of commercial yeast with very little success. However, I am going to keep on trying until I figure it out. This forum is a wealth of information.

you came to the right place
Hi Dennis,
I was in exactly the same place last August when I started hangin' out here. Now I regularly bake naturally leavened bread 3 or 4 times a week and it almost always comes out great. Every step of the process has had my attention at one time or another - sometimes it's mixing, sometimes it's shaping, etc. etc. You're in the right place for advice and generally getting cheered on on your endeavours. Welcome.
