Hops Yeast
Thanks for your replies. I think the hops pellets might not be suitable, but perhaps there are some readers from South Australia who could tell me where I could obtain the dried hops flowers?
Thank you Abigail

Try googling that. I know in the US it's easy to find varieties of hops that way.
Is homebrew legal in Australia?
Yes, home brew is legal in Australia. My son makes his own beer. And thank you for the hint

Try www.sourdough.com.au. They're a very nice bunch of breadbakers and I'm sure someone there will be able to help you out.

I told my husband about brewing hops and malt to make yeast and he said "you are making beer and hoping the yeast comes along."
Maybe making yeast from hops was a euphenism for making beer in temperance and prohibition times?
Anyway, I'm fascinated to hear how it turns out.
BTW, if it works, you should look for some hop rhyzomes to grow your own. We did for a few years. I love the smell of fresh hops!
Janknitz this is some soughdough i made with some crushed chocolate malt from the brewshop and added to my ferment with homemade stout about a week before I baked.
My Dad made beer for years and also sold compressed packages of hops. They do smell. Try your local drug store as hops are sold for people to make hop tea which helps them sleep. Same reason a beer drinker gets sleepy.
Good luck.
Yum!!!!!!
Did it taste as great as it looks?
It was fairly dense because of the crushed malt but a few people semm to prefer those.
These ones were made with Little Creatures Pale ale and Chinook hop tea..
