Stone-Buhr's Find The Farmer Program

Hello!  I stumbled onto this website and thought I'd introduce our new program - http://www.findthefarmer.com - and see what you all think. Stone-Buhr Flour is supporting the American family farmer by directly buying grain from multi-generational family farmers who have certified their agricultural methods as sustainable. We think it's important and want to show off the face behind your flour..... I'd love to hear what you all think!  If you have any questions or comments - please feel free to contact me directly at: farmer <at> findthefarmer.com

Neat

That is very cool.  I like the slightly retro-y design of the site too.  I will be sure to try that with the next bag of Stone-Buhr flour I pick up!

Yee-Haw!

The slow food movement is slowly creeping across the landscape.  It's really great to see that some companies are taking it seriously. And to think they just planted a vegetable garden at the White House. . . , Curiouser and curiouser. . . ,

Very Cool.

Nice to meet the people who grow the wheat for my breads! The code number for my AP unbleached white worked, but the number for the bread flour didn't. In any case it's nice to see the families behind the label.

Thanks,

Betty

didn't work

So I entered 30DEC09 from my KA bread flour bag and it said the entry was invalid.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong.  I tried lower case as well.  Anyway, great idea.

Glad to see people like it -

Glad to see people like it - if you have any other ideas please let me know!

summerbaker - By "KA bread flour" do you mean King Arthur Flour?

The website is for Stone-Buhr flour and specifically the UPC code 71285-14402.  We are working with multi-generational family farmers who are growing wheat we track directly into each bag of flour. No other flour brand is doing this - directly buying wheat from the American family farmer and paying a price based on their true cost of production.

oops!

Sorry, somehow I got it intio my head that the search provided a general tracking for all flours and would just give a region of the country from where it came.  I should have read further and will have to try Stone-Buhr flour at some point!
