Hi, Fresh Loaf Bakers,
I've been lurking here for a while, and I love the site. I've been a casual baker for years and I seem to have some talent for pastries, but like many, my yeast breads have left something to be desired. Thanks to the generous, detailed lessons and advice I've learned here, they are definitely improving. Yesterday, I tried txfarmer's recipe for New Orleans Poor Boy Bread, and it blew me away - so much that I finally decided to stop lurking and get involved.
I don't know when I first read you web page. It's been a couple of years now, I would guess. You gave me the courage to try to bake. I've made some tasty breads and pizza since then.
I finally got around to ordering "The Bread Baker's Apprentice" from the link on your site. It is a wonderful book. I am only about 50 pages in so far, but it is great!
It seems as though most of the ideas in the book, I've already read here! I'm not bashing the book - it is great, I'm glad I finally bought it; I'm just singing praises of your beautiful web site!
Been reading here a LOT and finally I have something I want to say!
I want to say how much I appreciate this site. I have always loved home made bread but never seemed to be able to make any really "good stuff". Even with my bread machine, it still wasn't the good old fashioned home made bread I wanted. And it always came out...well...ugly. But guess what! After lurking around here and taking tips from some obviously great bread bakers like you guys.......
LOOKIE!!!! I CAN MAKE SOME FAIRLY DECENT HOME MADE BREAD NOW!
